No class or group or party in Germany could escape its share of responsibility for the abandonment of the democratic Republic and the advent of Adolf Hitler. The cardinal error of the Germans who opposed Nazism was their failure to unite against it.

William L. Shirer’s book, “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” should be required reading for everyone, especially people already in, or going into politics, federal, state or local. This applies particularly to the first half of the book describing the rise to power of the Nazi Party and subsequent events prior to World War II.

      Jim,
I’d agree. The parallels with the current world are too close not to worry about history repeating itself.
