Are geology and biology next?

In relation to the supposed religious protections requested by opponents to same-sex marriage, the Member of Parliament from Western Australia, Andrew Hastie asked: “will parents and faith-based schools be able to opt out of state or territory mandated curriculum that runs contrary to their moral and religious convictions?”. He added: “I’m of the view parents and faith-based schools should have that protection, particularly as it relates to their views on marriage.”1

Given that Andrew Hastie’s father is a prominent creationist, and Hastie has refused to deny that he is also a creationist, one could reasonably ask if he thinks he should be able to remove children from Geology classes. After all, young-earth creationists only believe the earth is 6,000 years old, while geologists know it is about 4.6 billion years old. Does he also think he should be able to remove children from biology classes? Evolution underpins all of biology. Indeed, nothing much in biology makes sense except within the framework of evolution. Does Hastie think he should be able to remove children from Physics classes, because it is an understanding of the Physics of radioactive decay which allows geologists to understand that the Earth is indeed 4.6 billion years old.

Is there no end to the stupidity of the religious denying reality.
