How Murdoch ‘ruperters’ operate 14

Murdoch ‘ruperter’ Greg Brown has written an ‘exclusive’ article relating how Liberal assistant ministers Sarah Henderson and Linda Reynolds have supposedly ‘pushed back’ against claims the party is anti-women and defended the ‘merit-based’ system of choosing candidates. They also argued against Labor-inspired female quotas1. This is hilarious coming from two women who are ‘assistant’ ministers, in a party which has only about 23% of its sitting members female2(for Labor, it is 46%), the former leader of which is quoted as saying:

“I think it would be folly to expect that women will ever dominate or even approach equal representation in a large number of areas simply because their aptitudes, abilities and interests are different for physiological reasons”3 and:

Women are “physiologically unsuited to leadership”.4

The fact that these two women could defend the ‘merit-based’ system for preselecting men to run for the Liberal Party is also mirth-inducing, given that this party has elected the ludicrously incompetent Tony Abbott5; the idiotic Craig Kelly6; the stupid Angus Taylor7; as well as all the other climate change deniers and creationists in parliament. If that is based on merit, then the Liberal Party desperately needs quotas.

These two women have been wheeled out, presumably at the behest of their fearless leader, after Julia Banks resigned from the party while stating that it has a women problem1, and after Kelly O’Dwyer, in a moment of uncharacteristic lucidity, realised that the Liberal Party is regarded as “homophobic, anti-women, climate change deniers”8. Of course, Henderson said she had not been subjected to the bullying which Julia Banks said she had experienced when Turnbull was replaced by Morrison.

Senator Linda Reynolds, seemingly oblivious to the concept of irony, has accused the Opposition Leader, Bill Shorten of shamelessly treating the issue as a political weapon, and stated: “that the women of the Labor Party exploit these issues in the parliament and in the media says so much about the psyche of the Labor Party.” Then, as if needing to confirm her complete ignorance of irony she said: “What saddens me is Labor women allow themselves to be used in this way”1. This, just as she is wheeled out by her “homophobic, anti-women, climate change” denying party to accuse the opposition of something of which the Liberal Party is guilty. The fact that Greg Brown could think this drivel was a ‘story’ says much about him, and shows his ‘ruperter’ credentials . This is almost beyond satire.
